ALAN CRIST

NET BUILDER

I was born and raised in Montana, a mecca for fly fishing.  My dad introduced me to fly fishing while I was home for a visit from college.  Even though I got a "late" start, it is something I enjoy thoroughy.  Lately it seems I enjoy building nets just as much.  The most rewarding part of building a net is applying the first coat of finish.  It brings to life the dimensions and vitality the various, exotic woods of the world have to offer.  As a friend reminded me, "It's all about the wood."

While thinking of an appropriate name for my nets, my thoughts went to the Mighty Missouri, known locally as "The Mo".
