Magnetic net releases are great additions to your custom net.  They match the woods of the net and use strong, rare earth magnets.   The leather portion goes around the frame of the net and the S-biner connects to the back of your fishing vest.  The strong magnet holds it in place until you pull it off.  These can also be made for the butt of a net with two wood portions.
